Leadership and Humility: The Marriage of the Two

All Eyes On You

Good afternoon! Today we’ll pick up where we left off last week. I will preface today’s message with this sentence: with elevation comes attention.

2022 will be a breakthrough year for a lot of people. You could be moving to a new city, starting a new job, entering a new tax bracket, welcoming a new member to the family, or all of the above! As you elevate and enter a new level of life, you will inevitably gain more attention from others.
If you want a positive outcome, you have to take full responsibility. Besides executing an introspective process, you must intentionally set positive examples for others through your leadership.

“Sometimes people need to step outside of who they are to realize who they could really be.”

Suge Knight (All Eyez on Me)

Being a great leader requires coming to terms with the challenges attached to the position.
The first step toward becoming a successful leader is to understand what it takes to be a leader. A calling to leadership is not for the faint of heart – it is the most difficult calling in the world, and it is only granted to the strongest soldiers. When you find yourself in a position of leadership, it signifies you’ve been chosen to weather the storm and guide others through their storms.
Being a leader comes with a lot of obligations that aren’t always fun. It entails uncomfortable conversations, tough decisions, and serving others when things go wrong.

A successful leader must show a high level of humility by listening better.

Arrogance is the polar opposite of humility, and it can be difficult to overcome, especially for a leader. Arrogance can fool you into thinking that you can do no wrong, when, in reality, you’re losing influence without even realizing it.

Humility develops character because it demands a great deal of unlearning and relearning. Anyone can learn humility if they are willing to put in the effort.

Remember this, being called to lead others is a blessing. The more you elevate in your personal life, the more wisdom you will have to give others.

I hope this email acts as a brick being perfectly laid on your stairway to greatness.
