3 Ways to Encourage ACTION Using Imagination

How have the people in your life helped you to accomplish your goals?

How have the people in your life helped you to accomplish your dreams?

Good afternoon! What’s the one thing you’ve wanted to do for the past few weeks or months, but you haven’t gotten around to it yet?

We all have something. It could be something minor, like wanting to get a massage, or it could be something more substantial, like starting a new business.
I’ll give you a story from my personal journey.

Ever since I moved to Paris two weeks ago, I’ve wanted to put out a vlog. I procrastinated the first couple of days, and I found myself working on other things because I didn’t want to do the work associated with creating a vlog.

I used the content from today’s email to motivate myself to take action, and today I finally released my first vlog on YouTube: https://youtu.be/jh258nn5lAk
No matter the task, here’s one piece of advice; don’t overthink it.

I know it sounds easier than it actually is, but today we’ll be discussing 3 ways to encourage yourself to take action. Each method will be rooted in imagination.

“Overthinking is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere.”

Van Wilder

1. Imagine Your Vision

A compelling vision is crucial to your success. Here’s why. There will be days when you just don’t feel like doing any work. To help you get back on track, you will need a powerful reason to keep going. Your vision is the reason.

So if you have a vision for what you want your life to look like 5, 10, or 20 years down the line – take time to imagine what your vision looks like and use it as motivation to take action on the task you know you need to do.

2. Imagine The Feelings

The second way to encourage yourself to take action is by imagining the feelings associated with the activity. Ask yourself this question.

What will feel good when you’re doing the task?

There’s a reason you want to do the task. Imagine how it will feel while you’re taking action. Imagine the positive things. You can always find a negative feeling, but that’s not what we’re doing here.

Focusing on the good, positive feelings will inspire action.

3. Imagine The Aftermath

Lastly, imagine how it will feel once the task is complete. How will you feel? Relieved? Proud? Motivated?

After you read today’s email, I want to challenge you to take a few minutes to sit down in a quiet area, close your eyes, take slow deep breaths, and tap into your imagination.

I hope this email acts as another brick being laid down on your stairway to success.

Keep going! You got this!
